Photography

Task - 1
The history of the photography begins from 4th centuries BC. During this period, Chinese and Greek philosophers had described the basic principles of the camera. These discussions had been processing before the camera had been invented. Isaac Newton had discovered that white light was composed of different colours. He found this theory in 1727.
Another discovered done by Johann Heinrich Schulze in 1814 proving that silver Nitrate darkened upon exposure to light.  In 1814, Joseph Nipce achieved first photographic image with camera obscura. It took 8 hours of light exposure. Later on, it was faded. The main problem of the camera obscura was that the pictures took too long to develop and once, it did the photo only lasted a few hours.

In 1839 Louis Daguerre’s found the next development stage. It was called first Dauurreo type image and it was  not faded and needed less than 30 minutes of light exposure. Today it is known as the world most expensive camera.

However after discovering the fundamental concept of the  camera obscura by Alhazen (Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Haytham) the most important milestone was established in the history regarding camera and photography. Alhazen was a great scientist and he invented the Pinhole camera. He explained the reason that the image produced by the pinhole camera was upside down.
Then nest developed stage of the history of the camera can be found in 1839. When the first patent had been issued in photography to Alexander Wolcott for his camera in 1940 in America, it made a good opportunity to the business world think about the photography as a business.
In 1900 the history of camera established another milestone in the world.  The Raise camera (travel camera) was invented and it was extreme lightweight and small dimensions when it is folded made this photo camera the most desirable thing for landscape photographers.
Between 1913 and 1914 the first 35mm still camera (known as candid camera) developed by Oscar Bamak in German. Later it became the standard for all film cameras.
In 1948 Edwin Land invented the Polaroid camera, which could take a picture and print it in about one minute. This was a massive achievement of the film world and people realised that making pictures is not a time was not a time wasting task anymore.
The first digital image made on a computer in 1957 showed researcher Russell Kirsch's baby son and the ghostlike black-and-white photo only measured 176 pixels on a side.
In 1960 US G and G invented the depth underwater camera and it was purposely made for US Navy. 1978Konica introduces the first point-and-shoot, autofocus camera Konica C35 AF. It was named “Jasupin”.
In 1978, Konica introduces first point-and-shoot, autofocus camera. In 1980, Sony demonstrates first consumer camcorder. In addition, 1984 Canon demonstrates first digital camera. In 1985,
Pixar introduces digital imaging processor.
1990Eastman Kodak announces Photo CD as a digital image storage medium in 1990.

Different applications of Photography in Modern media
Portrait photographs can be identified as the oldest type of the photography.  It has been using before the camera was been invented. This was an old communication method used by wealthy people all over the world. They hired people that can do portrait painting.  The majority of the people in the society could not afford to do this. After invention of the camera, still wealthy people used to get the advantage from this facility. Though this was best visual communication method in history, still there are some limitations of this type of photography. Today we use portrait pictures to capture emotion and events.
Panorama is a really interesting photographic creation. It gives us an opportunity to compress a wide area in to one beautiful frame.

Complex collage is very popular now a day in media industries and among the society. This is another developed step in photography.
Today photographs are been used for different purposes such as media and publicity, private purposes, sell a product or service, commentary, and art news releases.
Documentary photography is a popular photography style in the modern world. Today we use this type of photographs to make documentaries on various topics. Especially, fields such as wild life, history, agriculture, post war, archaeology, and environment. Using documentary pictures we can be explain details of the relevant subject. This is an effective way to deliver information.
Culture and society
Photography has become an essential part of the life of the people in modern society. Photographs are important for everybody in a society. This is a good way to record memories, and they can be used as a powerful communication tool, and it is helpful to give information about subjects like history, archaeology ect.
Photography is a creative expression of transforming messages to the society. It can be used to create a good or bad reputation or image about a person, society, country or an activity. The intensions of the person who use the photographs are very important. This is very important in field such as war, political matters, reputation (building or harm some ones’ reputation).
‘One picture can say thousand words’ is a popular slogan among media personals. This is a very good example to understand the importance of photography in the society.
It has become a day today feature. People do photography for a habit while other people are doing it in professional way. However, this should be an entertaining tool. Photography should not use for another anti social activities, as it would make crises among communities, societies and the world.
Contextual influence on the medium
There is the debate that the medium is the most vital part of a message. On the other hand, we know there is another debate-saying message is the important. However, medium and message both important to convey the message to the audience effectively. In photography, the picture can give more details and ideas according to the quality and the size of the picture. Still the audience need to know more information. Then we have to use some explanation about the picture still the audience need to know more information. Then we have to give more explanation about the picture. However contextual influence can change the attitude of the people. And the same way it would help them to make decisions to engage with practical activities related to related to their attitude. We understand the history reading through history books. In addition once we get a chance to see the historical facts with pictures we have to believe it. The reason already our eye has proved it.  In this moment, we are having a contextual influence from the visual media.

In politics, we always can experience contextual influences from the medium. Especially, medium helps us to make our decision to use out electoral right to select candidates to the power. The problem is whether these media creations help us make the correct decision. Politicians who mostly use the media are getting more advantages from the media. Most of the politicians use spends lots money to build their public image using all the media. Still, they are relying on newspapers pictures even though other new technology has overcome the society.
Show aspect of medium of your own work
I created a Panorama and it gave me an opportunity to capture few beautiful types of scenery in to one frame. Then I learned to retouch a damage photograph and this very important as it give us a hope about our damaged pictures.
My next steep was a creating a complex collage and it was amazing to know the methods to do it. Now I am comfortable and I have confidence to use Photoshop tools. Making contact sheets, taking screen shots and everything is easy with Photoshop. I personally think if we have keynotes for all these creative activities it would give us a better understanding and it will be easy to remember.
